Delirium Dive Provides the Ultimate Backcountry Experience Inbounds
sunshine village | delirium diveBanff – AB – Delirium Dive, Sunshine Village’s infamous freeride zone opened March 1st for the season featuring over 600 acres of steep and deep terrain for skiers and boarders alike.

First opened in January 1999, the “Dive” features expert only terrain with an average pitch of 40 degrees and areas exceeding 50 degrees.  Easily accessed from the top of the Continental Divide Express, Delirium Dive provides skiers and boarders with the ultimate backcountry experience in-bounds.

“Thanks to the dedication and hard-work of our ski patrol team, we are able to provide the best Freeride terrain in the Canadian Rockies,” said Mike Moynihan, Manager Sales & Media.

In order to gain access to Delirium Dive, skiers and boarders must be equipped with an avalanche transceiver, shovel and a similarly equipped partner.  All skiers and boarders pass through an avalanche control gate which will only open if their avalanche transceivers are working.

Natural hazards are not marked and exist throughout Delirium Dive. It is recommended that skiers and boarders go into Delirium Dive with someone with previous experience with the terrain.  Another option for newcomers is to join Sunshine Village’s Ski & Snowboard School for their Delirium Sunday’s program.  Instructors help to navigate the difficult terrain and provide various route options.

Delirium Dive is open as weather and conditions allow.  Patrol reserves the right to refuse anyone who they deem ill-equipped or ill-prepared.  For current information on both of Sunshine's Freeride Zones, daily recorded updates are available by phoning 403-762-6511.
