Sunshine Village
Rogers Terrain Park to open this weekend |
|
Skiers and riders have one more reason to jump for joy at Sunshine Village - the upper half of the Rogers Terrain Park is set to open by Sunday.
Approximately 10 jumps are expected to open, along with 18-20 jib features - boxes, rails and a wall ride, to name a few.
"So far everything is looking really good and we are all very excited to open our most exciting park to date," says Tim Hyndman, terrain park supervisor at Sunshine Village.
Hyndman says the lower half of the park will have more jumps and jib features of varying difficulty and size. It is expected to open in the near future, although an exact date has not been set.
Once completed, the 2009-10 Rogers Terrain Park will have more than 50 features scattered over 12 acres. The park has become a favourite among skiers and riders - and it’s built from Sunshine’s all-natural snow.
The temporary terrain park - which was in the Birdcage area off the Wawa chair - has closed so that crew can concentrate on the main park.
Skiers and riders are encouraged to don a helmet before they hit the features. And for those who have always wanted to venture into the park but lack the skill or confidence, Sunshine offers lessons in the Ski & Snowboard School.
