Take A Hike - (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM)

Pre-register with the Museum’s Admissions Desk and join the Whyte Museum’s Chief Curator, Michale Lang, for a unique outing in and around the town of Banff.

This Curator-led excursion includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Whyte Museum’s collections, followed by a leisurely hike to the locations that inspired the artworks.

Please pack a lunch for a picnic along the Bow River. Enjoy the trails and tales of Banff’s rich art history that will inspire any art lover. There will be a maximum of 12 participants.

8:00am: Photography at the Cave and Basin
Takes place at the Cave and Basin National Historic Site of Canada - join a Parks Canada Interpreter for a special interpretive/photographic walk.

9:30am: Sanson Stroll on Sulphur Mountain
The 10th Annual Summer Stroll With Sanson starts at 9:30 am with a stroll to the top of Sulphur Mountain with a Parks Canada interpreter. Learn about Norman Bethune Sanson, one of Banff's most influential characters, as well as early Banff culture and area history as you take in the amazing views. The stroll is 5.5 km with an elevation gain of 655m. After the hike, enjoy a complimentary soak in the Banff Upper Hot Springs. Space is limited. Pre-register at the Banff Information Centre or by calling 403.762.1558.

Picnic in the park and enjoy the entertainment!

11:30pm- Mtn WIT
Mtn WIT entertains and interacts with the crowd with a handful of unique props.

12:00pm- The Hike is Right
The Hike is Right, you are the next contestant to test your knowledge on how to safely hike in the mountain parks. This high energy and fun interpretive program gives you safety and bear awareness tips and gets you ready for day hikes in the front country.

1:00pm- You too can draw animals!
Children are invited to join the Parks Canada’s interpretive team and learn about animals that are on the move in Banff National Park. Done through the creative process of learning how to draw animals.

3pm and 7pm- The Bankhead Project
The Bankhead Project: At Bankhead, historic town and mining operation, listen to the sounds of music as you experience the historic mine on a guided experience.
