Sunshine 5000 Ski Mountaineering Competition
In conjunction with the Alpine Club of Canada, Sunshine presents the only mountaineering competition in Alberta! Ski mountaineering combines athletic skiing and mountaineering skills over medium distances, incorporating technical ascents and descents. The event will feature two categories over two courses. The starting area of the race will begin for both divisions at 9am in front of the Day Lodge in the Village. All racers are expected to cross the finish line in front of the Day Lodge by 12:30pm. |

The Salomon Jib Academy gives freestyle skiers the opportunity to ski with their heroes! The global tour of slope style ski events is catered for athletes up to 16 years old. Participants ski in groups with a professional Salomon coach, learning new tricks, the importance of safety, and meet other skiers. There will be a jam session with tons of great prizes, including a grand prize trip to Mammoth Mountain in the final event! 44th Annual Bruno Engler Veterans Race
This is the longest consecutively running ski race in Canada. The race format is a two-run GS held on the Cascade slope and finishing in front of the Day Lodge. Bruce Henry, a former National Team Coach, will be Chief of Course. Bruce will hold a race clinic for those interested in brushing up on their gate running skills on the Friday morning prior to the race. |

Coors Light Peak Party Weekend and Playground Ski and Snowboard Competition
This weekend will include a Snowpants Bikini Contest, deejays, the Coors Light Beer Garden, and a Best Couch in the House contest. Plus, the Playground Ski & Snowboard Competition will feature hips, rails, spines and boxes brought together in a mini slope style course on the Pandemonium run. This competition is designed to promote creativity through imaginative skiing or riding. The Playground is an open event, but will be limited to 30 competitors. This year we hope to have an Under 18 category. More details to come. |

Redneck Rodeo & Hillbilly Downhill
Get your cowboy hat on and ride out to the Sunshine Redneck Rodeo! Events include Redneck ropin’, hubcap hurl, redneck horseshoes and hurlin’ curlin’. Events will run near the concert stage and Molsen beer gardens between 11am and3pm. The Hillbilly Downhill sees competitors race… but not with skis or a snowboard. Instead, competitors wear boots and take a hobby horse to lasso a calf and finish with the beer can stomp. Additional points will be given to those dressed in true redneck style. Contest entry is $5. More details to come. |

RBC Riders Squishee Cup
Open to introductory snowboarders ages 8 to 14, this is a skills development program catered to junior riders, featuring tons of prizes! It is based on the “Learn to Ride” stage of the Canadian Snowboard Federation’s Long Term Athlete Development model. RBC Riders follows a timed snowboard cross-style format that helps kids learn and improve their snowboarding skills and get a first taste of competition in a safe environment. Registration is $5. |
