Junior Big Mountain Challenge
The Lake Louise Junior Big Mountain Challenge is returning for what will be another exciting and competitive event. Canada’s premiere Junior freeskiing athletes will head to Lake Louise to display their creativity and style on snow during this two day event.
The freeskiers compete on different venues over the course of three days and are judged on time, line, control, fluidity, technique, and aggressiveness.

LLSC Doug Meyer’s Memorial Race
Lake Louise is proud to host the eighth annual Doug Meyers Memorial. Doug Meyers had a long-standing relationship with the Lake Louise Ski Area. It began in 1985 when he skied competitively with the Lake Louise Ski Club, placing in the top 15 of the Canadian Juvenile Finals. It continued from 1990-1997 with coaching, and later as head coach, with the Nancy Greene Ski program. Doug died of an aggressive form of brain cancer on April 10, 2003 at 30 years of age. He left behind a legacy of love, acceptance for all and enthusiasm for life. In support of Doug and what he represented, the Lake Louise Ski Club and Alpine Canada Alpin will be holding a two-day race at The Lake Louise Ski Area in memoriam. Smith Optics Big Mountain Challenge (9th Annual)
Lake Louise shows off its epic Powder Bowls for its 9th annual Smith Optics Big Mountain Challenge. Competitors from all across North America are expected to participate in the multi-day freeskiing event.

Three Hours of intense skiing, an epic event to see how many runs you can complete on the steep and deep Lone Pine in 3 hours. The current record was set by Bob Rakin in 1981 of 23 runs, that over 30,000 vertical feet in just 3 hours. Join the best skiers and snowboarders in the Bow Valley as they ski Norquay epic Lone Pine in attempt to become this year’s Mountain Smoker. Registration is $10.

The Backyard Rail Jam Series takes place on several nights over the winter season at Mt. Norquay in Banff. The competition is open to skiers and boarders of all ages. This rail jam is mainly focused on young developing talent in the Bow Valley.

This is the longest consecutively running ski race in Canada. The race format is a two-run GS held on the Cascade slope and finishing in front of the Day Lodge.

Ken Jones Classic – Ski Mountaineering Race
Lake Louise will be hosting its second annual ski mountaineering competition on March 24, 2011. The race is put on in partnership with the Alpine Club of Canada and promises to be a endurance testing, leg burning good time!
The race will take you on a spectacular trip around the Lake Louise Ski Area and its surrounding terrain. No ski lifts required!
Cash and great prizes from event sponsors will be up for grabs.
